Thomas Ireland was a landscape artist who
lived in London. He seems to have painted primarily in oils, as in the
above example, and to a lesser extent in watercolours. The venues at
which he exhibited were often the Royal Society of British Artists and the Royal Institute
of Oil Painters.
He was the father of painter Thomas
Tayler Ireland (see elsewhere on this web site) and at the time of the 1901 census
they were both shown as living at 14 Chalcot Crescent, London NW1 when
the father was aged 53. He was apparently born in
Lowestoft.
